mon 090420 am Joel 1-3

Joel 1

1.14 a solemn assembly... "Solemn" is generally fround upon in many churches. But it does seem to be an exception to the norm here too.
1.15 the day of the Lord ... as destruction form the Almighty...
1.19 To you, O Lord, I call.

Joel 2

2.1 Blow a trumpet...the day of the Lord We need trumpet blowers even today who know when to blow and how to blow a clear signal.
2.13 your hearts and not your garments...
2.14 He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in the steadfast love... Now that will preach. It is a good reminder and contrast in the middle of the warnings in Joel and in this chapter. It is a reminder that calls to repentance should be acompanied by reminders of God's goodness.
2.17 and make not your haritge a reproach... This could be my life verse.
2.18 The Lord became jealous was a good thing for his people. This is an attribute of God that needs more attenion.

Joel 3

3. 14 for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision...
3.19 for the violence they have done to Judah... These countries and people who are abusing Israel don't realize what they are doing to themselves.
