Fri & Sat 090424-25 2Chr 29-31

2 Chronicles 29
29.3 In the first year... First things first.
29.15 consecrated themselves as the king commanded... Leadership charging people to do what they ought to do.
29.27 when the burnt offering began, the song to the Lord began also... Until we are in a sacrificial worship mode the song is not to the Lord.
29. 34 the Levites were more upright in heart than the priests in consecrating themselves... I hope I am never in that bunch of "preachers."

2 Chronicles 30
30.8 that his fierce anger may turn away from you
30.9 For the Lord you God is gracious and merciful and will not turn away His face from you, if.... Lord, give me a tender repenting heart.
30.12 The hand of God was on them to give them one heart... Unity is not normal. It is a work of God.
30.18 ...the good Lord... I have always thought of that expression as a little disrespectful. It may be many times that I have heard it, but it does have a place in a sanctified vocabulary.
30.21 singing with all their might... Singing loud can be a good thing.
30.26 and their prayer came to His holy habitation in heaven. It makes you wonder how many of ours are hindered.

2 Chronicles 31
31.4 that they might give themselves to the Word.
31.17 according to their father's houses.... What there another way that they did it?

sun 09046 pm 1 Chr 32-34

1 Chronicles 32
32.11-12 When he started trashing God, he should have expected trouble.
32.25 for his heart was pround... It is sad how pride keeps us from benefiting from God's best.
32.31 and God left him to himself... That sounds so scary and Hezekiah blew it.

1 Chronicles 33
33.1-9 Manasseh, a great sinner.
33.12 Manasseh, a great repenter.
33.13 God's goodness leads to repentance.

1Chronicles 34
34.14 It is astounding to me that they had completely forgot where their Bible was.
34.19 tore his clothes, humbled himself, tore clothes and God heard him.

2 Chr 27-28

2 Chronicles 27
27.2 Jotham did what was right in the eyes of the Lord

2 Chronicles 28
28.5 It is interesting that the Lord is refered to as the Lord his God ... when he did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord
28.22 In the time of his distress he became yet more faithless to theLord. It is unfortunate how the things that should drive to the Lord end up making us drift.

mon 090420 am Joel 1-3

Joel 1

1.14 a solemn assembly... "Solemn" is generally fround upon in many churches. But it does seem to be an exception to the norm here too.
1.15 the day of the Lord ... as destruction form the Almighty...
1.19 To you, O Lord, I call.

Joel 2

2.1 Blow a trumpet...the day of the Lord We need trumpet blowers even today who know when to blow and how to blow a clear signal.
2.13 your hearts and not your garments...
2.14 He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in the steadfast love... Now that will preach. It is a good reminder and contrast in the middle of the warnings in Joel and in this chapter. It is a reminder that calls to repentance should be acompanied by reminders of God's goodness.
2.17 and make not your haritge a reproach... This could be my life verse.
2.18 The Lord became jealous was a good thing for his people. This is an attribute of God that needs more attenion.

Joel 3

3. 14 for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision...
3.19 for the violence they have done to Judah... These countries and people who are abusing Israel don't realize what they are doing to themselves.

Sun 090419 pm 2Chr 26 Heresies - Biblical Trinitarianism

Heresies and How to Avoid Them: Why it Matters What Christians Believe -- Chapter 12: Biblical Trinitarianism: The Purpose of Being Orthodox by Janet Martin Soskice

p. 128 ...to confess belief in one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is to confess the Trinity...
p. 130 Although it may have taken several Councils and several centuries for the Church to formulate the doctrine, it is by no means a late invention, but can be found in the New Testament itself.

2 Chronicles 26

26.3 52 years! a lomg time back then...
26.5 in the days of Zechariah...instructed in the fear of the Lord... Zechariah was a good man to teach and lay a foundation for Uzziah
26.16 But when he was strong, he grew proud to his destruction. That is a sobering verse. I just hope that I never get that strong.
26.21 for he was excluded from the house... the hard way.
